What do you think of when you hear Jesus' name? Was he simply a kind, mysterious man who lived long ago, whose life lessons have been lost? Quite the contrary! Jesus Christ, the son of God, left quite a legacy. His words and works are revered by Christians and people of other faith traditions around the world.
"Go and do thou likewise"
Christian Science is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible. We believe that he was the most spiritual man who ever walked the earth, and there is much we can learn from his consummate example. We take seriously his charge to his followers to “go and do thou likewise.” Luke 10:37
Do you ever wonder how Jesus accomplished such miraculous cures of disease, raised the dead and healed sinners?
Mary Baker Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science gave us her view.
"Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. All things are possible
"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23 KJV
Jesus tells us that no condition is too difficult to cure through God's love, and Mary Baker Eddy states,
“The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, – a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love.” Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
Jesus Christ prayed persistently for all mankind, and understood that man was God's spiritual image and likeness. He was not materialistic or selfish; otherwise he could not have fulfilled his spiritual ministry in helping others.
Jesus’ teachings
Jesus gave us the Beatitudes "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God," the Lord's Prayer "Our Father which art in heaven," and the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Jesus' lessons are not lost and forgotten
They are being practiced daily by dedicated Christian Scientists and others, and you can do it too!
We can all pray using the Bible and the lessons of Christ Jesus to become closer to God, to gain a better understanding of him, and to heal. This is the basis of Christian Science, and Christianity itself.
