Here are simple instructions for creating and updating a website for your church on our Southern California site.

1. How can we have our church website on PrayerThatHeals.org?

If your Christian Science branch church or society is in Southern California, we are happy to host your church website on PrayerThatHeals.org. If you have an independent church website, we will link to your site.

2. What does it cost to create and update a church website on PrayerThatHeals.org?

There is no charge to copy your existing website or create a new 6-page site for your branch church or society on PrayerThatHeals.org, and there is no charge for updating copy and photos as needed. All branch churches and societies are asked to pay web dues of $120 per year to the CS Joint Media Committee of Southern California to support the overall maintenance of PrayerThatHeals.org.  See details

3. What is normally included on a church website?

A typical church website has a homepage plus web pages for church services, Sunday School or Youth, Reading Room, Local & Online Events, and Contact Church. Free church websites are a maximum of 6 pages. Your site will include a masthead with your church name and city on every page and your site navigation will appear at the top and bottom of each page. Below the navigation at the bottom of each page will be a link to all of the resources on our Southern California site, PrayerThatHeals.org.

4. What if we want additional pages on our website?

There is no charge for the first 6 pages. Additional pages may be included at a cost of $75 per page. Your church will receive an email invoice for the extra pages added.

5. What does our church need to provide?

Copy & Photos. You will need to provide text and photos for each page. At least a couple of paragraphs of text is needed on each page so that users can learn about your church and its activities, and for search engines. Be sure to include your church location and hours for church services, Sunday School and Reading Room. If your Reading Room hours fluctuate, you may list a phone number to call for Reading Room hours. If you would like assistance with copy, please provide two sets of desk announcements about your various church activities.

Photo Ideas & Requirements.  Please provide photos of your church exterior, church auditorium, Sunday School and Reading Room. It is helpful if you give us several photos of each area. Photos may be with or without people. If you are taking photos from the back of the room, a photo release is not required. If people in the photos are identifiable, please have them complete a release form. If children are included, please have their parent or guardian sign the form. Print release form. Photos may be taken with a smart phone or digital camera. Please email the photos or upload them to our Dropbox

Existing Site. If you have an existing church website, we are happy to copy the content and photos for use on your new site on PrayerThatHeals.org. To be reused, photos must be as large as the space allocated for them on your new website on PrayerThatHeals.org.

6. How can we update information on our website?

General information and photos on your site may be updated for free at any time. Email us or send a message via Contact Us on PrayerThatHeals.org, and your site will be updated as soon as possible.

Let us know if you have someone in your congregation who would like to assist with updating information on your site, posting Wednesday readings, or adding any kind of information that needs to be updated on a regular basis.  With your permission, we will grant them access to part or all of your site.

7. Can we have our lecture featured on our website?

You may request that your lecture be featured on your church website. An auto-generated listing of upcoming lectures in Southern California can be included on your "Local & Online Events" page.

8. What are our design options?

Here are some sample church websites on our Southern California site.

9. Can we keep our current domain name?

10. Can we add a PayPal donation button on our church website?
