Prayer for world peace

Jesus Christ was known as the “Prince of Peace.”  He calmed the waves, angry crowds and aggressive signs of disease.

Jesus’ spiritual view of life enabled him to perform radical demonstrations of God’s love.  He was the ultimate example of maintaining peace.

Christian Science is based on the teachings of Jesus and the Bible. Christian Scientists believe that anything can happen through closeness to God and constant prayer.  Family dissension, political upheaval, and any type of unrest can be healed as Jesus illustrated.

“Peace, be still.” Jesus Christ Mark 4:39

Daily prayer for peace

It all starts with us.  Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science, wrote this Daily Prayer:

"It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to pray each day: "Thy kingdom come;" let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" (Christian Science Manual, p. 41)

The daily prayer is said all over the world on a daily basis by thousands.  It reminds one that if God’s Truth, Life and Love are present then anything is possible to God.  Sin refers to anything that is un-Godlike.

It helps to quiet thought and listen for ideas and solutions coming from God. Oftentimes, through prayerful thinking, it seems as though miraculous things happen, but this is natural and part of God’s law.

We know that our thinking can influence and inspire others. Positive results can occur from dedicated prayer, and acting out in love rather than anger or frustration.
